Rishikul Transport Service
The Vidyapeeth runs its own vans to around sixty villages and hamlets, across a twenty-five kilometre radius.
Where the vans go
Fares are charged in two instalments — one at admission and one in the first week of September — and are set by distance band rather than by village, so that two families the same distance out pay the same.

How the vans are run
A school van is, on the evidence, the safest way for a child to get to school — safer than a private vehicle and considerably safer than walking a highway. That holds only if the vans are properly equipped and properly maintained, so ours are.
Each vehicle carries GPS, so the office and a parent can see where it is and how fast it is going. RFID tags mean a parent is notified when their child boards, which removes the worry of a child waiting alone at a pickup point.
On every vehicle
- GPS tracking, visible to the school office
- RFID boarding notification to parents
- Fire extinguishers, checked and replaced on date
- A first aid box
- Extended stop arms and flashing indicators
- Clearly marked emergency exits
- Seat belts, and seating with raised backrests and firm padding
- A child-check alarm and a bus-empty sign, so no sleeping child is left aboard
- Smaller vehicles and an assistant on board for the youngest children
- Preventive maintenance inspections by certified mechanics
