Rishikul Montessori

Rishikul Montessori is here to look after the social, emotional, physical and creative growth of a small child — not only the alphabet. Lessons are arranged around exploration and play, so that a habit of curiosity forms before a habit of examination does.

The programme draws on the developmental thinking of Piaget, Erikson and Vygotsky. In practice that means the room is set out with a range of materials and the child is allowed to choose among them, with the teacher there to steer rather than to dictate.

Nothing matters more to a parent than this, so we are specific about it. The campus, the toys and the learning materials are disinfected daily with non-toxic products, which are then locked away out of reach.

Children are encouraged to wash their hands several times a day, and hygiene is taught through songs and rhymes rather than instruction. The playground equipment is age-appropriate and has been tested by the children who use it.
